Dr Philip Bazire
Dr Philip Bazire trained at University College Hospital, London. He then specialised in General Surgery in Spain, working in Madrid, Orense and Segovia. He was a member of one of the first bariatric surgery teams in La Paz Hospital in Madrid.
In 2011, he qualified in out-of-hospital emergency medicine from Salamanca University and subsequently participated as a lecturer for the same course. He was a member of the medical team at the Madrid motor racing circuit (RACE Jarama), covering circuit racing and on- and off-road rallies for motorbikes, cars and lorries.
After undertaking a Masters in aesthetic medicine, nutrition and healthy ageing at the Complutense University in Madrid, he set up a clinic in Zamora, Spain, to perform minor surgical procedures, aesthetic treatments and nutrition for weight management. It was during this period that he discovered his real passion for the use of diet and lifestyle in disease prevention and to increase the efficacy of therapeutic medicine. To broaden his knowledge of nutrition, he also undertook studies in sports nutrition at the International University of La Rioja, Spain, and he acted as the team doctor and nutritional advisor for the 1st division Handball team in Zamora.
In 2018, Dr Bazire moved back to the UK to act as the Medical Director for PronoKal UK, a company specialised in weight management. He is an International Scientific Advisor for PronoKal in the field of Metabolism and Obesity, and delivers lectures at international courses for doctors training in the PronoKal weight management methods.
Dr Bazire has rooms in London’s Wimpole Street. He applies a holistic approach as leader of a multidisciplinary team to promote health and well-being through diet, weight management and lifestyle, taking a special interest in the prevention of obesity-related chronic diseases, including metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, PCOS and sarcopenia.
He has continued his training in the treatment of obesity and its complications through regular attendance at conferences and has completed the World Obesity Federation Scope training (the only internationally recognised qualification in obesity management). He is a member of the European Association for the Study of Obesity, the World Obesity Federation, the Nutrition Society and the Spanish Society of Nutrition, and has spoken at the European International Congress on Obesity, 2021, and at the 25 th Portuguese Conference on Obesity.
Dr Bazire also works to promote public health through participation in local public educational and informative meetings and events to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
